Armenia is one of the least-visited Caucasus countries from the Gulf, which is exactly why a local guide adds value — English signage is limited outside Yerevan, and the monastery towns that make the trip worth it are spread across mountain roads with no meaningful public transport between them. We arrange the full itinerary, from the capital to Khor Virap and the monastery towns, with a private driver and an English-speaking guide.
- Khor Virap — Armenia's most photographed monastery, with Mount Ararat behind it
- Yerevan — Republic Square and the Cascade complex
- Geghard Monastery, partly carved into the mountainside, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Lake Sevan, one of the largest high-altitude lakes in the world
- English-speaking guide throughout, not just at the hotel front desk
Overview: Armenia for Gulf Residents
Yerevan is Armenia's capital and the natural base for the trip — walkable, with a genuine café culture around Republic Square and the Cascade complex — but the destinations that define an Armenia trip sit outside the city: Khor Virap, a monastery with Mount Ararat rising behind it across the Turkish border; Geghard, partly carved into a mountainside; and Lake Sevan, a high-altitude lake ringed by monastery ruins. None of these are connected by useful public transport, and English signage drops off quickly once you're past Yerevan's center. A private driver and a guide who knows the route between them turns a fragmented set of day trips into a single coherent itinerary.

Customize This ItineraryWhy Book This Instead of Arranging It Yourself
A driver who connects the monastery route. Khor Virap, Geghard and Lake Sevan sit in different directions from Yerevan, with no useful public transport between them. We arrange a private driver who sequences the route sensibly rather than backtracking across the country.
Time. Fitting Yerevan and three major day trips into a short trip takes planning most people don't have time for. You confirm your dates once; we handle the logistics.
Visa paperwork, confirmed for your case. Many nationalities enter Armenia visa-free or via e-visa, but requirements depend on your passport, not your Gulf residency. We confirm the current requirement for your specific nationality and residency status before you commit to anything.
Visa rules change. We confirm current requirements for your nationality and residency status before you commit to anything.
Best Time to Go
May–June and September–October are the most comfortable months — mild temperatures for walking Yerevan and the monastery sites, and Mount Ararat is more likely to be visible behind Khor Virap on a clear day than in the hazier summer months. Summer (July–August) is warm and dry; winter (December–February) is cold, with occasional snow affecting the Lake Sevan and Geghard mountain roads.
For scheduling against the Gulf calendar, the mid-October half-term break and the September shoulder season both offer some of the clearest views of Mount Ararat from Khor Virap, alongside comfortable walking weather.
Practical Notes for Gulf Residents
Departure airports: we route itineraries out of Riyadh (RUH), Jeddah (JED), Dammam (DMM), Dubai (DXB), Doha (DOH), Kuwait City (KWI), Bahrain (BAH) and Muscat (MCT). Flight options and layover length vary by city, and we factor that into your itinerary timing.
Visa and residency: your visa requirement is based on your nationality, not your Gulf residency. Many Western passport holders enter Armenia visa-free for short stays, while others apply via e-visa — we confirm the exact requirement for your case before booking.
Currency and connectivity: Armenia uses the Armenian dram. Card acceptance is good in Yerevan but more limited at monastery sites and rural stops near Lake Sevan, so carrying some cash for the day trips is practical. A local SIM or eSIM is straightforward to arrange on arrival.

| Time investment | Several evenings of research and planning | One conversation to confirm your dates |
Armenia Trip: Common Questions From Gulf Residents
Armenia rewards the trip more than the planning. The part worth outsourcing isn't Yerevan — it's sequencing the monastery route to Khor Virap, Geghard and Lake Sevan, and having a driver who already knows the roads. You confirm your dates; we handle the rest.
