Our Africa Destinations, at a Glance
Africa on this list spans two genuinely different kinds of trip: East African safari and Indian Ocean beach destinations (Kenya, Zanzibar, Mauritius, South Africa) and North African history and Red Sea coast (Egypt, Sharm El-Sheikh, Morocco, Marassi on Egypt's Mediterranean North Coast). Each has its own full itinerary, priced and planned separately β this page is a starting point to help you pick the right one, not a booking form in itself. The two groups don't overlap much in what they deliver: a safari trip is built around wildlife and a good guide, while the beach and history destinations are built around a specific sight, resort quality, or β for Egypt and Morocco specifically β genuinely useful Arabic-speaking staff outside your hotel. Knowing which kind of trip you actually want narrows this list quickly. Price and length also vary a lot across these eight: a short Marassi or Sharm El-Sheikh beach trip runs a few days and sits at the lower end of what any destination on this site costs, while a full Kenya or South Africa safari typically runs seven to twelve days and costs meaningfully more, reflecting lodge quality and the logistics of a proper game-drive itinerary rather than padding. Neither is the "better" choice β they're simply different trips for different budgets and different amounts of vacation time.

Kenya
Maasai Mara safari lodges, the Big Five, and Nairobi β the classic East African safari, built around game drives with an experienced guide. This is the trip to choose if wildlife, not a beach, is the actual point of the vacation.

The Pyramids of Giza, a Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan, and the Great Egyptian Museum β Arabic-speaking staff throughout, a real advantage at every major site. History and monuments are the draw here, not the beach.

Chamarel's coloured earth dunes, Black River Gorges, and the west-coast beaches, with a private driver reaching what a resort's own excursion desk usually can't. A genuine mix of beach relaxation and inland sightseeing in one short trip.

Cape Town's Table Mountain, the Cape of Good Hope, and a Kruger National Park safari β a coastal city and a Big Five safari in one trip. The pick if you want both a safari and a real city, not just one or the other.

Marrakech's medina, an overnight Sahara desert camp near Merzouga, and Fes β with Arabic-speaking guides who bridge the language gap outside tourist hotels. Best suited to travelers who want a multi-day driving route, not a single-base resort stay.
